I rolled over in bed, and the acute ache in my ass had my eyes popping open. Shit.

Taking long, hard blinks in the dark, I was relieved to find that I recognized the room around me. I was home in my own bed. I tried to retrieve any of last night’s memories from under a veil of fog. How much did I drink last night? I couldn’t even remember how I got home, but I found that had never been a concern when I descended the steps into The Cesspool. I had total faith that Ross would make sure I got back safe and sound.

Ross… He did more than keep me safe last night.

I was hit with vivid flashes of memory—strobing lights and throbbing music, a green drink, a blindfold… that somehow, while restricting sight, made everything clearer. Ross, giving and taking and giving… Oh gods, I begged for more. I waited for the shame to wash over me, but it was strangely absent. Never once was I made to feel like there was something wrong with asking for what I wanted, for expecting to feel good.

Who even was I last night? I certainly didn’t recognize myself. I was fun and sexy, demanding and needy. And oh, gods, how Ross gave me everything I asked for and more.

I froze as the bed shifted. The blankets tugged, and then an arm snaked its way around my waist, pulling me back against a warm body. Not just warm—hot.

Peeking down at the arm, I relaxed when I recognized whose it was, relief and comfort nudging aside my unease. That was the typical horror story, wasn't it? Waking up with a stranger in your bed?

“What’s the matter, little omega?” Ross mumbled against my neck, his voice thick with sleep. “I can hear you overthinking.”

I paused, debating his word choice. “Do you mean that literally?” I asked. Would I be able to sense if he were taking a stroll through my brain right now? I hadn't the first time he'd done it.

He chuckled, the vibration traveling through my body and straight south. “No. I’ll keep my promise and only enter your mind when invited. I just meant that your entire body went stiff—and not in a good way.” As if to punctuate his meaning, he poked me with his erection.

“I was just worried for a second that I’d brought a stranger home last night. I guess I was pretty drunk by the end.”

Now it was his turn to tense up. “I would not have allowed another man in this bed.” Did his voice hold a note of possessiveness, or was I imagining things?

“But it’s okay for you to be here?”

“Obviously.” He sounded so smug.

"How did we even get home last night? I don't remember much after…" I cleared my throat, feeling awkward.

"You stumbled home mostly, leaning on me, but once we got here—" He propped himself up on one elbow and stared down at me. "Did you know your building's elevator doesn't work?"

"Uh, yeah, that's usually the case.
